Ippocalyptica Colours of Faith was one of 2022's absolute dissonant delights, and until certain French and Icelandic bands woke up from their slumber late last year and early this year, Sisyphean's seemingly-unshakeable grip on the dissonant black metal scene seemed assured. The battle for disso-black ascendancy rages on, but with the little glimpse that we get from Through Corrosion, Sisyphean is not going anywhere. As thought-provoking as it is viscerally striking, this is an outstanding mini-EP. Favorite track: Through Corrosion.

Following the release of their staggering full length last year in 'Colours of Faith', which was widely lauded the world over, the Lithuanian black metal band have come up with a brand new single that further explores the atmospheric and dissonant sound that they perfected on the album. A elegant yet stirring song, lyrically it conveys the possibility of deepening the understanding of the self using neuroscience. The other song included here is the impeccably executed live rendition of the rousing song Hearts of Mercury which was a part of their previous full length.
